CVICU Registered Nurse – Travel RN Job in Upper Marlboro, Maryland

• Shift Duration: 12-hour days
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, day shift schedule
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110 - $2,220
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Floating: May float within the specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
• Charting System: Epic experience preferred
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric cardiac patients

Job Requirements

• Active Maryland RN license or compact license at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience required; 2+ years of CVICU or open heart experience strongly preferred
• ACLS and BLS certification required
• Travel nursing experience required
• Ability to care for complex cardiac, vascular, and thoracic post-op patients
• Experience with critical care monitoring and advanced hemodynamic support preferred
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity cardiovascular ICU environment
• Must be available for weekends and floating as scheduled

Responsibilities

• Provide expert bedside care for immediate post-op cardiac surgery patients in a Cardiovascular ICU setting
• Monitor and manage patients recovering from CABG, valve repair/replacement, and combined cardiac procedures
• Care for patients with STEMI, NSTEMI, atrial fibrillation with RVR, cardiogenic shock, vascular bypasses, EVAR, and thoracic VATS procedures
• Support advanced therapies including ventilator management, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and FloTrac monitoring
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, and vasoactive drips with precision and confidence
• Collaborate closely with respiratory therapy and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver safe, effective patient care
• Promote excellent outcomes through vigilant assessment, timely intervention, and strong critical thinking
