Job Requirements

• Active RN license in the state of practice or compact license eligibility
• At least 1 year of registered nurse experience required
• BSN preferred
• BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred at hire; must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care, and ACLS required within 6 months of hire
• NIHSS required
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Neuro or stroke experience preferred
• Dysrhythmia exam required
• Ability to manage intermediate-level patients with cardiac drips

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process in a progressive care / stepdown setting
• Perform ongoing assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Administer medications safely and in accordance with clinical policy
• Monitor and manage patients with changing cardiac and neurologic conditions
• Support patients with chest tubes, hemodynamic monitoring, and temporary pacing
• Respond confidently to rapid changes in patient status in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary care team
• Educate patients and families while promoting quality, safety, and compassionate care
• Maintain a calm, professional presence in a high-acuity clinical setting
