- Position: Travel Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU
- Employment Type: Travel Nursing Job
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
- Location: Madison, WI 53792
- Start Date: 08/31/2026
- End Date: 11/30/2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
- Schedule: 4x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Orientation: 20 hours
- Setting: 18-bed Neuroscience ICU / Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric critical care patients
Job Requirements
- Active RN license in Wisconsin or a compact state
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
- Previous ICU experience required
- Neuro ICU, neurocritical care, or neurosurgery experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required
- Basic arrhythmia experience required
- Telemetry exam required prior to start
- Travel nurse experience required
- Ability to float as needed
- Ability to work with both ICU and IMC patient populations
Responsibilities
- Provide expert bedside care for critically ill neuro and neurosurgical patients in a fast-paced ICU environment
- Monitor and manage patients with stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, status epilepticus, and post-op neurosurgery diagnoses
- Perform specialized critical care interventions including hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring, EVD and lumbar drain management, and hypothermia protocols
- Care for ventilated patients and manage advanced therapies such as vasoactive drips, sedation, paralytics, and arterial lines
- Collaborate closely with physicians, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to support safe, high-quality outcomes
- Use strong critical thinking, rapid assessment, and response skills in a high-acuity neuroscience ICU
- Support unit standards, infection prevention practices, and ongoing patient safety initiatives
- Contribute to a collaborative, professional team known for exceptional neurocritical care
