- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Shifts Per Week: 3 to 4 shifts
- Shift Times: Day/Evening coverage, including 06:30–18:30 and 11:00–23:30 options
- Call Requirement: 6 calls per 6-week schedule
- Weekend/Holiday Coverage: 1 weekend shift and/or 1 holiday per 6-week schedule
- Orientation: Orientation provided prior to start
- Charting System: Cerner preferred
- Work Setting: Cardiovascular surgery / operating room
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent CVOR or related surgical nursing experience
- Scrub experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred/required based on unit expectations
- At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
- Experience with aseptic technique, case cart preparation, and cardiac/vascular surgical cases
- Robotics experience preferred, including Xi robotics
- Experience with general surgery, thoracic, neuro, transplant, orthopedics, urology, ENT, plastics, and related cases preferred
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced operating room environment with on-call responsibilities
- Must be prepared to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team focused on high-quality patient care and surgical efficiency
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled circulating and scrub support for cardiovascular surgical procedures
- Assist with CABG, valve, LVAD, transplant, endovascular, and open vascular cases
- Support safe, efficient operating room workflow for complex cardiac and vascular surgeries
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and uphold surgical safety standards
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative team members throughout procedures
- Assist with additional surgical cases when no cardiac cases are scheduled
- Participate in call, weekend, and holiday coverage as scheduled
- Deliver dependable, patient-centered care in a high-acuity surgical setting
