Overview
The Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse provides high-quality, patient-centered care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment for patients with complex medical needs. In this travel nursing role, you’ll collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, support patient and family education, and help drive positive outcomes in a high-acuity Progressive Care / Stepdown unit.

- Position: Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN)
- Employment Type: Travel Nursing Assignment
- Location: Greenville, SC 29601
- Start Date: 08/31/2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts
- Shift Pattern: 3 shifts per week, every other weekend and holiday
- Weekly Hours: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,910 - $2,010
- Unit Setting: Progressive Care / Stepdown
Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact licensure eligibility
- At least 1 year of RN experience required
- 2 years of Progressive Care Unit, Stepdown, or PCU nursing experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam
- BLS required; ACLS preferred at hire and required within 6 months if not already obtained
- Comfort working with adult and geriatric patient populations
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive and ongoing patient assessments and respond appropriately to changes in condition
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
- Administer medications safely and in accordance with nursing standards
- Care for patients with chest tubes, trachs, home vents, BiPap, central lines, insulin drips, CIWA protocols, and complex wounds
- Titrate one vasoactive drip as clinically indicated
- Monitor patients using hemodynamic and cardiac rhythm awareness
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other care team members to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families and promote safety, comfort, and positive outcomes
- Document care accurately and maintain standards of quality, privacy, and professionalism
