- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
- Weekly Hours: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
- Schedule: Day/night flexibility may be required, with every other weekend and some holidays
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric critical care patients
- Unit Setting: 18-bed neuroscience intensive care unit
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
- Current Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
- Epic charting experience required
- Basic arrhythmia knowledge required
- Ability to pass a telemetry exam prior to start
- Neurosurgery experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience with ICU and IMC patient populations
- Ability to float as needed
- Strong critical thinking skills and comfort with high-acuity critical care nursing
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill neuroscience ICU patients
- Monitor and manage complex neuro diagnoses, including stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgical care
- Perform and support specialized interventions such as hemodynamic monitoring and hypothermia protocols
- Care for patients requiring ventilator management, central line care, arterial line management, and vasoactive drips
- Work with advanced neurocritical care equipment, including EVDs, lumbar drains, and ICP monitoring systems
- Interpret rhythms and provide telemetry-based nursing care with accuracy and attention to detail
- Collaborate closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to support excellent patient outcomes
- Maintain safety, infection prevention, and evidence-based care standards in a fast-paced ICU setting
- Adapt to changing patient needs and support weekend and holiday coverage as assigned
