NICU Registered Nurse Travel Job – Pediatric Transport | Tacoma, WA

Seeking a NICU Registered Nurse with pediatric transport experience for a high-acuity travel RN job in Tacoma, Washington. Join a mission-driven healthcare team supporting critically ill newborns and pediatric patients across ground and air transport in the Puget Sound region.

Job Details

  • Location: Tacoma, WA 98405 — a welcoming Puget Sound city known for its scenic waterfront, vibrant neighborhoods, and easy access to the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
  • Setting: NICU / Pediatric Transport
  • Employment Type: Travel Nurse Assignment
  • Start Date: September 8, 2026
  • End Date: January 16, 2027
  • Duration: 19 weeks
  • Shift: 12-hour day shifts
  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,520 - $2,650

Job Requirements

  • Active Washington State RN license
  • BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
  • Registered Nurse - Pediatric/Neonatal Transport certification required
  • 5 years of experience in pediatric ED, PICU, and Level IV NICU, with at least 1 year in each area
  • At least 3 years of neonatal/pediatric transport experience within the last 5 years
  • Experience with interhospital transport by ground and air preferred
  • TNCC and STABLE preferred
  • Comfort working with critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients
  • First-time travelers considered

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care during neonatal and pediatric transport operations
  • Support patients requiring airway management, vasoactive drips, and infusion therapy
  • Assist with non-invasive ventilation, including BiPAP and HFNC
  • Perform IV and IO access and administer respiratory inhaled medications as needed
  • Collaborate with transport team members during ground and air transfers
  • Care for pediatric and neonatal patients with complex conditions such as respiratory illness, sepsis, trauma, congenital heart defects, and metabolic disorders
  • Float to unit support roles when not actively transporting
  • Use transport and clinical equipment safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment
