- Role: Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric PACU / Peri-Anesthesia Travel Nurse
- Setting: Pediatric Peri-Anesthesia / Pediatric Surgical Observation
- Location: Charlottesville, VA 22908
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,710 - $1,800
- Start Date: 8/31/2026
- Shift Pattern: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Charting System: Epic
- Orientation: 24 hours
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license; Virginia license pending is accepted if in hand before start
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
- Experience in pediatric PACU, perioperative nursing, pre-op, post-op, or surgical observation preferred
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- BSN preferred
- Comfort caring for pediatric patients in a fast-paced surgical recovery environment
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality preoperative and postoperative nursing care for pediatric patients
- Monitor children recovering from surgery, including those requiring overnight observation or extended recovery
- Assess pain, vital signs, airway status, and overall recovery progress
- Collaborate with anesthesia, surgery, and multidisciplinary teams to support individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families on recovery expectations, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition with sound clinical judgment
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
- Support a safe, compassionate, and family-centered healing experience for every child
