• Role: Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric PACU / Peri-Anesthesia Travel Nurse
• Setting: Pediatric Peri-Anesthesia / Pediatric Surgical Observation
• Location: Charlottesville, VA 22908
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,710 - $1,800
• Start Date: 8/31/2026
• Shift Pattern: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Charting System: Epic
• Orientation: 24 hours

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license; Virginia license pending is accepted if in hand before start
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
• Experience in pediatric PACU, perioperative nursing, pre-op, post-op, or surgical observation preferred
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• BSN preferred
• Comfort caring for pediatric patients in a fast-paced surgical recovery environment

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality preoperative and postoperative nursing care for pediatric patients
• Monitor children recovering from surgery, including those requiring overnight observation or extended recovery
• Assess pain, vital signs, airway status, and overall recovery progress
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgery, and multidisciplinary teams to support individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families on recovery expectations, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition with sound clinical judgment
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
• Support a safe, compassionate, and family-centered healing experience for every child
