This RN travel job offers the chance to support a 22-bed inpatient neuro med/surg unit caring for adult patients with neurological and medical-surgical needs. You’ll work alongside a collaborative clinical team in a well-equipped environment that values critical thinking, sound judgment, and compassionate bedside nursing.

Job Details

• Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro Med Surg
• Location: Johnstown, PA 15905 — a welcoming community known for the Johnstown Flood Museum, the historic Johnstown Inclined Plane, and a vibrant music and performing arts scene.
• Shift: 12-hour day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250 – $2,370
• Contract Duration: 6 weeks
• Start Date: 08/17/2026
• Patient Ratio: 5:1 to 6:1
• Unit Size: 22 beds
• Weekend Coverage: 2 of 4 weekends per schedule; straight weekends may be available
• Charting System: EPIC
• Work Setting: Adult inpatient neuro med/surg unit

Job Requirements

• Active RN license in good standing
• 2+ years of nursing experience required
• Med/Surg RN or neuro med/surg experience preferred; strong neuro nursing experience is ideal
• Competence in dysrhythmia interpretation required
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia and math dosage test on day one of orientation
• NIH Stroke Scale and swallow screen experience preferred
• Must be able to complete all required Pennsylvania nursing clearances before start
• Flexibility to work scheduled weekends and holidays as needed
• Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate care to adult med/surg and neurological patients
• Perform ongoing nursing assessments and recognize changes in patient condition promptly
• Monitor for neurological, respiratory, urinary, and cardiac changes
• Administer medications and document care accurately in the EHR
• Support patients with CVA, TIA, seizure, mobility limitations, and related conditions
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver coordinated patient care
• Respond appropriately to telemetry and rhythm changes when indicated
• Maintain compliance with unit protocols, patient safety standards, and orientation requirements
• Float as needed, though float expectations are rare
