- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Shift Schedule: Rotating days and nights, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM or 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Weekly Schedule: Monday through Friday with every other weekend required
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Charting System: Epic
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 2 years of pediatric acute care or pediatric med-surg experience within the last 3 years
- BLS and PALS certification required (AHA only)
- Epic experience required
- Ability to pass a telemetry exam prior to start
- Experience with pediatric stepdown, intermediate care, or mixed-acuity patient populations preferred
- Comfort working rotating shifts, weekends, and a travel nurse schedule
- Willingness to float as needed
Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for pediatric patients with a range of acuity levels
- Monitor telemetry and identify significant cardiac rhythms and changes in patient status
- Support patients with respiratory needs including CPAP, BiPAP, tracheostomy care, and ventilator dependence
- Care for pediatric patients with neuro, diabetic, nephrology, spinal fusion, and other medical/surgical needs
- Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and assist with blood and blood product administration
- Perform thorough patient assessments, implement care plans, and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members
- Promote safe, family-centered care in a fast-paced pediatric stepdown environment
