- Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
- Shift Times: 07:00 - 19:30 and 19:00 - 07:30
- Schedule: Day and night rotation, every other weekend, some holidays, no call
- Hours per Week: 36
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Unit Environment: High-acuity cardiothoracic surgery and cardiac care
- Location: Madison, WI 53792
Job Requirements
- Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
- Current CVICU nursing experience required
- Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Epic charting experience required
- Telemetry exam required prior to start
- Previous travel RN experience required
- Strong background in critical care, cardiovascular nursing, and cardiothoracic patients preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care to patients with complex cardiovascular and cardiothoracic conditions in a CVICU setting
- Monitor and manage post-operative cardiac surgery, heart failure, STEMI/NSTEMI, and transplant patients
- Care for patients requiring advanced support devices and therapies, including CRRT, IABP, Impella, and LVAD care
- Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips while maintaining close hemodynamic monitoring
- Interpret dysrhythmias, manage telemetry, and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- Support ventilated patients and perform critical interventions such as line care, blood product administration, and suctioning
- Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary critical care team to deliver safe, efficient, patient-centered care
- Adapt to changing assignments and maintain excellent communication in a fast-paced ICU environment
- Float as needed based on unit needs
