- Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
- Shift Schedule: Day and night shifts available, including every other weekend and some holidays; no call
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,160 - $2,270
- Hours Per Week: 36
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Setting: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit
- Location: Madison, WI
- Additional Notes: Travelers may be required to float as needed and must pass a telemetry exam prior to start
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
- Current Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
- Active BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA
- Prior CVICU experience required
- Experience with NextStage CVVH machine required
- Epic charting experience required
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Ability to successfully complete required telemetry testing before start
- Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and comfort working in a high-acuity critical care setting
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to adult and geriatric patients in a busy Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit
- Care for patients recovering from CABG, valve repair/replacement, transplant, aneurysm repair, and other complex cardiothoracic procedures
- Monitor and manage advanced therapies and equipment, including CRRT, IABP, Impella, LVAD, ECMO, and Zoll Thermoguard when applicable
- Interpret rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately to telemetry findings
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips per protocol
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support safe, patient-centered care
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and communicate changes in patient condition promptly
- Adapt to shifting patient acuity and changing assignments throughout the shift
- Support a positive team culture while delivering exceptional care in a fast-paced critical care environment
