This travel Registered Nurse opportunity offers hands-on experience with cardiac and vascular patients in a high-acuity, collaborative hospital setting.

- Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (Travel RN)
- Location: Asheville, NC 28801
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Call: No call required
- Floating: May float to stepdown, med-surg, or ER inpatient holding areas as needed
- EMR: Cerner
Job Requirements
- Active RN license required
- At least 1 year of recent nursing experience in stepdown, telemetry, or progressive care preferred
- Experience with cardiovascular nursing or vascular surgery patients strongly preferred
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Strong teamwork, flexibility, and adaptability in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Ability to manage complex patient populations and respond to changing clinical priorities
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for cardiac surgery and vascular surgery patients, including open heart, TAVR, thoracic, and abdominal vascular cases
- Care for overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses such as heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
- Monitor and manage patients in a progressive care setting with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Perform and support procedures including epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, and IV glucose control
- Administer and monitor cardiac drips such as phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
- Collaborate with charge nurses, PCTs, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to support safe, high-quality patient care
- Maintain accurate documentation and use strong clinical judgment to prioritize patient needs
