• Shift: 12-hour day shifts
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
• Call: No call required
• Floating: May float to stepdown, med-surg, or ER inpatient holding areas as needed
• EMR: Cerner

Job Requirements

• Active RN license required
• At least 1 year of recent nursing experience in stepdown, telemetry, or progressive care preferred
• Experience with cardiovascular nursing or vascular surgery patients strongly preferred
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Strong teamwork, flexibility, and adaptability in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Ability to manage complex patient populations and respond to changing clinical priorities

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for cardiac surgery and vascular surgery patients, including open heart, TAVR, thoracic, and abdominal vascular cases
• Care for overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses such as heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Monitor and manage patients in a progressive care setting with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Perform and support procedures including epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, and IV glucose control
• Administer and monitor cardiac drips such as phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
• Collaborate with charge nurses, PCTs, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to support safe, high-quality patient care
• Maintain accurate documentation and use strong clinical judgment to prioritize patient needs
