- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890 - $1,990
- Charting System: Epic
- Setting: High-acuity stepdown / neuro intermediate care
- Patient Ratio: 1:3
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Weekend Coverage: Variable
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent PCU, DOU, IMC, stepdown, or cardiac stepdown nursing experience
- Direct experience managing External Ventricular Devices (EVDs) is required
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIH Stroke Scale certification and 6 hours of stroke-related continuing education
- Recent Epic charting experience required
- Experience caring for ventilated patients and titrating vasoactive drips
- Strong skills in neuro stepdown, post-craniotomy, stroke, and seizure care
- Ability to obtain or hold a valid state RN license for assignment
- Experience with adult and geriatric patients preferred
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality care to complex cardiac stepdown and neuro intermediate care patients
- Monitor and manage patients with ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, status epilepticus, and post-neurosurgical needs
- Care for patients with EVDs, lumbar drains, and post-thrombolytic treatment needs
- Titrate vasoactive infusions and support ventilated patients as indicated
- Perform ongoing neuro assessments and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and support teams to coordinate care
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow unit protocols
- Float within the acute care division as needed and within scope of practice
