- Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Employment Type: Travel Nurse Assignment
- Duration: 16 weeks
- Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,050 - $2,160
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Unit Focus: Acute leukemia, hematology, infection prevention, and fall prevention
- Charting System: Epic
- Orientation: 72 hours
- Weekend Coverage: Variable based on unit needs
- Float: May float to other MedSurg oncology units
Job Requirements
- Current RN license in hand at the time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of overall acute care nursing experience
- At least 1 year of recent PCU experience
- Current acute care experience must be recent and consistent within the last 12 months
- BLS and ACLS required
- Experience with Epic or another computerized charting system required
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Strong skills in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral line management
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leadership role
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with acute leukemia and hematology diagnoses
- Monitor telemetry and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Administer IV therapies, blood products, electrolytes, and antibiotics safely and accurately
- Support infection prevention efforts and fall prevention initiatives throughout the unit
- Manage central lines, PICCs, peripheral IVs, feeding tubes, and phlebotomy needs as appropriate
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams including respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, therapy, and rapid response services
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and communicate effectively with the care team
- Adapt to rotating day and night shift needs based on departmental scheduling priorities
