- Position: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (Medical-Surgical RN)
- Employment Type: Travel Contract
- Start Date: 09/21/2026
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Call: No call
- Holiday Expectation: 2 of 4 holidays as needed
- Charting System: Cerner
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,040 - $2,150
- Location: Ellsworth, ME 04605
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Experience with chest tubes, tracheostomies, drains, wound vacs, IVs, PCA therapy, IV antibiotics, and heparin infusions preferred
- Charge nurse experience strongly preferred
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced acute care environment
- Ability to float to ICU for Med/Surg-level patients or assist in the ED as needed
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg patients with a variety of medical and post-surgical needs
- Monitor patient conditions, administer medications, and support individualized treatment plans
- Manage common medical-surgical cases including orthopedic, general medical, surgical, and infectious disease presentations
- Care for patients requiring chest tubes, drains, wound vacs, PCA pumps, and IV therapies
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and the care team to promote safe patient outcomes
- Support charge nurse responsibilities when assigned or trained to do so
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Cerner
- Adapt to float assignments while maintaining a high standard of patient care
