ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Job in San Antonio, TX

Join a high-acuity Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team in San Antonio, Texas. This 13-week travel nursing assignment is an excellent opportunity for an experienced critical care RN who thrives in fast-paced hospital environments and wants to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes. San Antonio, including the 78229 area, offers a welcoming community, a vibrant culture, and plenty to enjoy outside of work.

Job Details

  • Location: San Antonio, Texas
  • Setting: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,460 - $1,540
  • Documentation System: Meditech
  • Work Environment: High-acuity critical care with floating as needed within the system

Job Requirements

  • Active Texas RN license required; temporary license is not accepted
  • 2+ years of ICU nursing or critical care experience required
  • 2+ years of hospital or travel nursing experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Ability to work every other weekend
  • Comfortable floating to other ICU areas as needed based on census and staffing needs
  • Meditech experience preferred
  • Experience with CRRT (Prismaflex) and Rotoprone preferred
  • Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based care to critically ill patients in the ICU
  • Monitor patient status closely and respond quickly to changes in condition
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support optimal outcomes
  • Perform and assist with ICU procedures such as central lines, bronchoscopy support, and bedside trachs as assigned
  • Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner using Meditech
  • Support infection prevention, patient safety, and unit standards
  • Float to other ICU areas when needed to support patient care across the system
