Job Details

  • Employment Type: Travel Nurse
  • Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown / Cardiac PCU
  • Shift: 12-hour nights
  • Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week; every other weekend
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
  • Location: Asheville, NC 28801
  • Floating Areas: MedSurg units, Stepdown units, COVID unit, and ER holding
  • Charting System: Cerner

Job Requirements

  • Progressive care, stepdown, or cardiac telemetry nursing experience
  • Telemetry experience required
  • Experience managing titratable or cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, and diuretics
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
  • Flexible, positive, and compassionate approach to patient care
  • Preferred: experience with prostacyclins and relief charge nurse responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert bedside care as a Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse for patients with complex cardiac and medical needs
  • Monitor telemetry readings and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
  • Administer and safely manage titratable cardiac medications and IV drips
  • Care for patients recovering from CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-procedure cardiac interventions
  • Perform bedside cardioversion as needed
  • Collaborate closely with the charge nurse, interdisciplinary team, and support staff to promote excellent patient outcomes
  • Adapt to floating assignments while delivering consistent, high-quality nursing care
