Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel Nurse
- Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown / Cardiac PCU
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week; every other weekend
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
- Location: Asheville, NC 28801
- Floating Areas: MedSurg units, Stepdown units, COVID unit, and ER holding
- Charting System: Cerner
Job Requirements
- Progressive care, stepdown, or cardiac telemetry nursing experience
- Telemetry experience required
- Experience managing titratable or cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, and diuretics
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Flexible, positive, and compassionate approach to patient care
- Preferred: experience with prostacyclins and relief charge nurse responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Provide expert bedside care as a Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse for patients with complex cardiac and medical needs
- Monitor telemetry readings and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- Administer and safely manage titratable cardiac medications and IV drips
- Care for patients recovering from CHF, MI, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, DKA, and post-procedure cardiac interventions
- Perform bedside cardioversion as needed
- Collaborate closely with the charge nurse, interdisciplinary team, and support staff to promote excellent patient outcomes
- Adapt to floating assignments while delivering consistent, high-quality nursing care
