Job Requirements

• Active RN license and current BLS certification
• CPI certification required
• At least 1 year of psychiatric nursing, behavioral health nursing, or mental health experience preferred
• Strong assessment skills with the ability to evaluate mental health status and recognize signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral challenges
• Experience with psychotropic medications and medication monitoring
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective during crisis situations
• Excellent therapeutic communication, active listening, and de-escalation skills
• Comfort working in a fast-paced inpatient behavioral health environment

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including mental status evaluation and behavioral observation
• Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with mental health and behavioral needs
• Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support for patients experiencing agitation, aggression, or suicidal ideation
• Monitor vital signs, psychological symptoms, and medication effectiveness throughout the shift
• Collaborate with the care team to support safe, compassionate, and patient-centered treatment
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record
• Promote a respectful environment that reflects strong communication and behavioral health best practices
