- Schedule: Coverage needed seven days per week, including weekends
- Additional Requirement: Active Blue Card and CPI required to submit
Job Requirements
- Active RN license and current BLS certification
- CPI certification required
- At least 1 year of psychiatric nursing, behavioral health nursing, or mental health experience preferred
- Strong assessment skills with the ability to evaluate mental health status and recognize signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral challenges
- Experience with psychotropic medications and medication monitoring
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective during crisis situations
- Excellent therapeutic communication, active listening, and de-escalation skills
- Comfort working in a fast-paced inpatient behavioral health environment
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including mental status evaluation and behavioral observation
- Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with mental health and behavioral needs
- Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support for patients experiencing agitation, aggression, or suicidal ideation
- Monitor vital signs, psychological symptoms, and medication effectiveness throughout the shift
- Collaborate with the care team to support safe, compassionate, and patient-centered treatment
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record
- Promote a respectful environment that reflects strong communication and behavioral health best practices
