Overview

The PACU Registered Nurse will support pre-op and Phase 2 recovery care for surgical patients, helping ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate transitions through the perioperative experience. This travel RN role is well-suited for an experienced registered nurse with strong clinical judgment, excellent assessment skills, and hands-on perioperative nursing experience.

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license
• Minimum 1 year of PACU, pre-op, or perioperative nursing experience required
• Perioperative experience strongly preferred
• Pre-op and Phase 2 recovery experience preferred
• BLS certification required
• Strong clinical assessment skills, medication review, and patient safety knowledge
• Experience with IV insertion and electronic health record systems such as Epic/Optime preferred
• Comfort working in a fast-paced surgical and post-operative recovery environment

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-operative nursing care, including patient assessments and medication review
• Verify consents and prepare patients for surgery
• Deliver Phase 2 post-operative recovery care
• Monitor patients closely for safety, comfort, and readiness for discharge or transfer
• Collaborate with the surgical, anesthesia, and perioperative care teams to support efficient patient flow
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow unit protocols
• Respond to call coverage as scheduled, including weekend and holiday requirements
• Support a high standard of patient-centered care throughout the perioperative journey
