• Setting: Adult PCU/Stepdown unit with cardiac and post-procedure patients

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of assignment or compact licensure
• At least 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
• BLS required; ACLS preferred at hire and required within 6 months of start
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Experience with pre/post cath lab patients required
• Experience caring for ventilated and tracheostomy patients required
• Comfortable working weekender nights, including every other weekend and holiday coverage as assigned
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork in a high-acuity healthcare environment
• Ability to meet the physical demands of bedside nursing and follow safety and infection-control practices

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care
• Administer medications safely and in accordance with nursing standards and protocols
• Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team and serve as a point of contact for patients and families
• Monitor and manage patients with complex cardiac and respiratory needs, including post-cath, post-pacer, and other stepdown cases
• Care for patients receiving drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, and Insulin
• Provide care for patients with vents, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and nasal cannula support
• Assess hemodynamics, manage chest tubes, and assist with temporary pacing and conscious sedation as needed
• Respond quickly to changes in condition and deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care
• Promote patient safety, education, and positive outcomes in a collaborative care setting
