Job Details

• Position: Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Peoria, IL
• Setting: Acute care medical-surgical unit
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130-$2,250
• Charting System: EPIC
• Orientation: 12 hours with a unit preceptor
• Schedule Notes: Every other weekend required; holiday rotation per policy; no call required

Job Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification required
• At least 1 year of hospital or acute care nursing experience required
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing and comfort caring for diverse adult patient populations
• Ability to titrate heparin drips
• Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability in a travel nursing environment
• ACLS preferred for charge RN opportunities
• Willingness to float to other units as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to adult med/surg patients
• Manage patient assignments in a busy acute care medical-surgical setting
• Monitor and titrate heparin infusions as ordered
• Support patients with oxygen needs up to 6L nasal cannula, stable BiPAP/CPAP at night or as needed, and remote telemetry monitoring
• Collaborate with charge RN, house supervisor, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and other support teams
• Attempt IV starts and use available unit resources when additional assistance is needed
• Accurately document care in EPIC and communicate changes in patient status promptly
• Float to other units when needed to support patient care across the facility
