• Position: Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (Registered Nurse / RN)

• Setting: Acute care surgical medical-surgical unit
• Location: Peoria, IL 61637
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Rotate every other holiday
• Orientation: 2 shifts with a preceptor plus additional EPIC and unit orientation
• Charting System: EPIC electronic health record (EHR)
• Scrub Color: Any color

Job Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• At least 1 year of Med/Surg or acute care nursing experience required
• Strong post-operative care skills and confidence caring for surgical patients
• Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to ask for help when needed
• Professional bedside manner and a collaborative, team-focused attitude
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment with changing patient needs
• Experience with EPIC charting is helpful

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care for post-op surgical, trauma, and overflow medical patients
• Manage common medical-surgical needs such as dressing changes, wound care, IV therapy, pain management, drains, NG tubes, central lines, and TPN
• Monitor patients on telemetry and collaborate with monitor techs as needed
• Support respiratory care by troubleshooting CPAP and high-flow equipment and coordinating with respiratory therapy
• Deliver safe, compassionate patient care while maintaining strong clinical judgment and prioritization
• Work closely with charge nurses, house supervisors, and patient care techs to support efficient unit flow
• Float to similar-level units when needed and adapt quickly to changing patient assignments
• Document accurately in EPIC and follow unit standards for quality patient care
