• Unit Setting: Cardiac telemetry / progressive care unit (PCU)
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Scheduling: Full-time hours required, including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period
• Floating: May float to areas where competency has been demonstrated

Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent Cardiac Telemetry, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or ICU experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips
• Experience with post-cardiac procedural care preferred, including ablations, cardiac catheterizations, post-op open heart, and permanent pacemaker placements
• Ability to administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac patient care in an acute care setting
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient-centered care skills

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality care for telemetry patients with cardiac and post-procedural needs
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret telemetry strips, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Administer and titrate IV medications in accordance with unit protocols and provider orders
• Perform and support unit procedures such as IV insertions, NGT placement and maintenance, chest tube maintenance, temporary pacemaker care, and Foley insertions
• Collaborate with charge nurses, unit secretaries, PCTs, and the broader care team to deliver efficient, coordinated care
• Promote a positive patient experience by treating every patient with courtesy and respect, responding promptly to call lights, and supporting bedside communication
• Maintain professionalism, flexibility, and adaptability in a fast-paced acute care nursing environment
