Overview

This is a 13-week travel RN assignment on a 40-bed cardiovascular progressive care unit. You will be part of a collaborative healthcare team in a patient-centered environment that values flexibility, teamwork, and strong clinical skills. This PCU Registered Nurse role is ideal for an experienced nurse who enjoys a busy, rewarding stepdown setting and is confident caring for complex patients.

• Position: PCU Registered Nurse / Progressive Care Unit RN
• Location: Asheville, North Carolina
• Assignment Type: Travel Nursing
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
• On-Call: None
• Floating: May float to stepdown, med-surg, or ER inpatient holding areas as needed
• Charting System: Cerner
• Unit Environment: Cardiovascular progressive care / cardiac stepdown

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license
• Minimum 1 year of recent stepdown, telemetry, or progressive care nursing experience required
• Prior experience caring for cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients preferred
• ACLS and BLS required
• Ability to manage a fast-paced patient care environment
• Strong teamwork, flexibility, and adaptability
• Comfort with cardiac drips, chest tubes, epidural management, and IV medication titration

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled bedside care to post-operative cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery patients
• Monitor and manage telemetry for patients with complex cardiac and medical conditions
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips per protocol
• Perform chest tube management, tube feedings, and epidural monitoring
• Support patients with overflow diagnoses such as heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
• Deliver compassionate care while adapting to changing patient needs in a progressive care setting
