• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250

• Hours per Week: 36
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend / every other holiday
• Unit Size: 22 beds
• Daily Census: Approximately 13 patients
• Charting System: Epic experience preferred

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey or a compact state, in hand at submission
• Minimum of 2 years of recent psychiatric nursing or behavioral health nursing experience
• Recent experience within the last 12 months preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• CPI certification required
• Epic experience required
• Strong background in behavioral health interventions, de-escalation, and therapeutic communication
• Experience supporting adults with anxiety, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use concerns, and crisis intervention needs
• Willingness to float within the local hospital network based on staffing needs
• COVID-19 and flu vaccination requirements apply

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to adult behavioral health patients
• Perform focused assessments, monitor mental status, and document changes in condition accurately
• Administer medications safely and support treatment plans in collaboration with the care team
• Use de-escalation techniques and therapeutic communication to promote a safe care environment
• Assist with crisis intervention, voluntary and involuntary commitment processes, and behavioral support protocols
• Support patient safety through observation, environmental awareness, and adherence to unit procedures
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to coordinate care and discharge planning
• Maintain professional standards while adapting to the pace and needs of a busy psychiatric unit
