Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in IMCU, PCU, cardiac stepdown, or a similar intermediate care setting
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Experience with EPIC preferred
- Ability to care for adult patients with cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and post-op needs
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and adaptability in a high-acuity healthcare environment
Responsibilities
- Provide skilled nursing care to adult patients in a cardiac stepdown and intermediate care unit
- Monitor and assess patients with diagnoses such as MI, COPD, DKA, sepsis, trauma, and post-operative complications
- Manage specialty equipment including temporary pacers, chest tubes, A-lines, BiPAP, and chronic vents
- Perform ongoing assessments, intervene promptly with changes in patient condition, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
- Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record
- Float as needed within the scope of competency
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a busy and collaborative hospital unit
