Job Requirements

• Active RN license in Virginia or compact licensure eligibility
• At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required
• At least 2 years of experience in a Med/Surg or similar acute care setting preferred
• At least 1 year of travel nursing experience preferred
• BLS required prior to direct patient care; ACLS accepted in lieu of BLS in applicable cases
• ACLS required
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Experience supporting surgical patients strongly preferred
• Ability to complete a dysrhythmia exam at orientation
• Strong communication, time management, and prioritization skills
• Ability to work with adult and geriatric patient populations

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to medical/surgical patients in a fast-paced acute care environment
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings accurately
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
• Administer medications safely and in accordance with nursing standards and policy
• Care for surgical patients and support common Med/Surg needs such as TPN, NGT management, surgical drains, and heparin drips
• Monitor and respond to remote telemetry patients in collaboration with the monitor tech team
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members to support safe discharge planning
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and recovery expectations
• Promote patient safety, quality improvement, and compassionate bedside care
• Maintain professionalism, adaptability, and teamwork across changing clinical priorities
