Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Post-Op Medical-Surgical Unit in Nashville, TN

Overview: Travel to Nashville, Tennessee, and join a fast-paced Medical-Surgical nursing team as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a post-op Med/Surg unit. Located in the welcoming 37207 area of Nashville, this 13-week travel nursing assignment offers hands-on, patient-centered care in a vibrant city known for its energy and local charm.

Job Details

• Location: Nashville, TN 37207
• Facility Setting: Post-Op Medical/Surgical Unit
• Schedule: 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,640 - $1,730
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• Unit Highlights: 34-bed unit, 6:1 patient ratio, tech support on days and nights, and unit secretary coverage during daytime hours
• Equipment: IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximetry, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanner, and mobile communication technology

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current BLS certification
• At least 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) nursing experience
• Experience in a post-op, acute care, or bedside nursing environment preferred
• Ability to prioritize care and manage multiple patients efficiently
• Experience starting IVs and providing basic wound care
• Comfort with maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused approach
• Ability to collaborate effectively with the healthcare team and provide bedside shift report

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to post-operative Medical-Surgical patients
• Monitor patient status and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Manage IV therapy, telemetry, and unit-based medical equipment
• Assist with wound care, drain management, and tube maintenance
• Deliver clear, compassionate communication to patients and families
• Complete bedside shift report and support continuity of care
• Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to promote safe, efficient patient care
