Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Connecticut RN license should be in process or obtained prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of emergency nursing or comparable high-acuity experience preferred; candidates with at least 1.5 years in a similar setting may be considered
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and PALS required
• CPI, NIHSS, and ENPC preferred or required based on unit needs
• Strong experience managing patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:6 in a busy Emergency Department
• Experience with Epic charting preferred
• Ability to adapt to cross-training and float within scope to meet department needs
• Flu vaccination required; COVID-19 vaccination not required

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Assess, stabilize, and monitor patients presenting with acute and complex medical conditions
• Support care for trauma, stroke, chest pain, neurological, and behavioral health-related presentations within role scope
• Perform critical ED interventions such as IV starts, medication administration, dysrhythmia recognition, and emergency response support
• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to deliver timely, patient-centered care
• Float to other campuses and the ED observation unit as needed
• Maintain a safe, efficient workflow in a high-volume acute care environment with strong attention to detail
• Document accurately and efficiently in Epic
