- Hours: 36 hours per week; the posted coverage pattern is four 12-hour shifts
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Unit: Labor & Delivery, recovery, and mother-baby care
- Unit Profile: Approximately 5 rooms and 6 beds, with a typical daily census of 1–5 patients
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Orientation: 80 hours, including required learning modules

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Active Registered Nurse license in hand at the time of submission
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current AWHONN certification at the appropriate level, such as beginner, intermediate, or advanced
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification
- Recent experience with electronic documentation; Altera experience is preferred, and Allscripts experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of fetal monitoring, obstetric emergencies, and maternal-newborn care
- Travel nursing experience is preferred but not required
- Ability to complete required compliance documentation and facility screening before the assignment begins
Travel Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in active labor, antepartum monitoring, induction, and augmentation of labor
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring, non-stress testing, and intrauterine pressure catheters when indicated
- Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, pregnancy-induced hypertension, hemorrhage, shock, and other obstetric emergencies
- Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, terbutaline, prostaglandins, insulin drips, antihypertensives, and antiseizure medications as ordered
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, forceps or vacuum-assisted deliveries, tubal ligations, and related procedures
- Circulate for and recover cesarean sections while supporting safe surgical and postpartum care
- Perform postpartum assessments, including fundus, lochia, perineum, edema, reflexes, pain, and recovery evaluations
- Support couplet care, newborn assessment, thermoregulation, identification and security procedures, cord care, and radiant warmer use
- Provide breastfeeding and lactation support, discharge education, car seat education, and parent teaching
- Maintain accurate documentation, collaborate with interdisciplinary support services, and promote safe, compassionate maternal-newborn care
