Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Lubbock, Texas

Travel Nurse Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
  • Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
  • Location: Lubbock, Texas
  • Start Date: November 2, 2026
  • End Date: February 1, 2027
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week
  • Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • Shifts per Week: 3
  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3
  • Weekend Requirement: Six weekend shifts per six weeks
  • Call: Not required
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 136 visits per day
  • Department: Emergency services with approximately 42 rooms and 46 beds
  • Orientation: 36 hours
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduling; approved block scheduling is available but not required
  • Floating: May be asked to float to nearby sister locations based on operational needs

Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
  • At least 2 years of recent emergency department RN experience required
  • Experience in a community hospital setting required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
  • Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records
  • Experience with Level II trauma, stroke, and STEMI patient care strongly valued
  • Ability to care for adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients
  • Clinical experience with emergency department triage, dysrhythmia management, ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, IV vasopressors, and central line care
  • Ability to provide two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the past three years
  • Flexibility to work required weekends and three of the five designated winter holidays

Emergency Department Nurse Responsibilities

  • Assess, triage, prioritize, and provide timely nursing care to emergency department patients
  • Care for patients presenting with stroke, STEMI, chest pain, abdominal pain, trauma, NSTEMI, shortness of breath, asthma, genitourinary complaints, headaches, sore throats, and lacerations
  • Recognize and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions and emergent situations
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and vasopressors in accordance with established protocols
  • Monitor patients with cardiac dysrhythmias and provide appropriate nursing interventions
  • Manage patients requiring ventilator support and BiPAP/CPAP therapy
  • Provide central line care and maintain strict isolation and personal protective equipment (PPE) precautions
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, interpretation services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
  • Support comprehensive stroke and Level II trauma care while maintaining a calm, compassionate presence for patients and families
