Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,660–$1,750
• Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing assignment
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 18, 2027
• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, approximately 36 hours weekly
• Shift: 6:45 p.m. – 7:15 a.m.
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5–6
• Unit Profile: Adult medical-surgical unit with an average daily census of approximately 39 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Orientation: 24 hours, including required hospital orientation during the first week
• Scheduling: Based on unit needs; floating within or near the assigned setting is required
• Additional Expectations: Contract staff may be assigned to support emergency, disaster, storm, or hurricane response operations when needed

Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a valid Compact nursing license; pending licensure may be considered for submission
• At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience in an acute-care setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification
• Demonstrated experience caring for a 1:5–6 patient assignment
• Proficiency with telemetry, remote cardiac monitoring, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Competence with IV therapy, starting and maintaining peripheral lines, central-line blood draws, PICC line management, phlebotomy, and port access
• Experience with blood product administration, heparin, insulin and IV insulin protocols, PCA therapy, and pre- and post-hemodialysis management
• Experience with chest tubes, surgical drains, wound care and wound vacs, colostomy care, feeding tubes, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
• Ability to care for patients requiring oxygen therapy, CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, suctioning, and isolation precautions
• Successful completion of specialty EKG testing before the start of the assignment
• Epic electronic medical record and telemetry documentation experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience and prior travel nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must be available to work required weekends and applicable major holidays

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Assess patients, develop and update individualized plans of care, administer medications, and evaluate treatment outcomes
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize, interpret, and appropriately respond to dysrhythmias and changes in patient condition
• Care for patients with diagnoses including pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleeding, anemia, hip fractures, dementia, diabetes, renal failure, CHF, UTI, hypertension, cellulitis, and failure to thrive
• Manage patients recovering from surgical procedures and support care needs involving chest tubes, surgical drains, wound vacs, feeding tubes, and ostomies
• Perform IV starts, line and catheter care, blood draws, blood product administration, oxygen therapy, suctioning, and other specialized bedside procedures within scope of practice
• Use clinical judgment to identify deterioration and activate rapid response or code resources when appropriate
• Document accurately in the electronic medical record and communicate effectively using structured handoff practices such as SBAR
• Collaborate with providers, therapists, support services, patients, and families to coordinate comprehensive care
• Follow infection prevention, isolation, safety, and emergency preparedness procedures
• Adapt to changing unit needs and float assignments while maintaining high standards of patient care
