Med/Surg Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia or a valid compact-state license
• At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• WV Cares clearance or an indication of current clearance status
• Strong adult acute-care assessment and clinical judgment skills
• Previous Epic electronic health record (EHR) experience is required
• Ability to work scheduled every-other-weekend and holiday rotations

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical and acute-care patients
• Perform focused and comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with established nursing standards
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate findings to the interdisciplinary care team
• Collaborate with physicians, ancillary staff, patients, and families to support effective care planning and transitions
• Accurately document nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
• Provide patient and family education related to diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge needs
• Follow hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and applicable nursing regulations
