Pediatric Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
• At least 1 year of recent pediatric nursing experience in a hospital setting
• Pediatric oncology nursing experience strongly preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• APHON certification required for oncology-focused patient care
• Strong attention to detail, organization, clinical judgment, and communication skills
• Ability to float to PICU and NICU areas as needed

Pediatric Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to pediatric and pediatric oncology patients
• Assess patient conditions, develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, and evaluate outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments while monitoring for therapeutic response and adverse effects
• Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapists, patient care technicians, and families to coordinate comprehensive patient care
• Support children and families through acute illness, complex oncology treatments, and hospitalization
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the electronic medical record
• Respond effectively to changes in patient status and escalate concerns appropriately
• Follow unit standards for infection prevention, patient safety, medication administration, and evidence-based clinical practice
• Float to PICU or NICU assignments when qualified and operationally needed
