Join a collaborative neonatal care team as a NICU Travel Nurse in a 51-bed Level III NICU in Asheville, NC. This on-site travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to care for critically ill and medically complex newborns alongside experienced neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists, charge nurses, and support staff. Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Asheville, North Carolina
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,680–$1,770
• Assignment Type: 13-week NICU travel nursing assignment
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 18, 2027
• Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week, approximately 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Unit: Level III NICU with 51 beds
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:1 to 1:4, based on patient acuity
• Documentation: Cerner electronic medical record
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
• Floating: Pediatric, PICU, and Mother-Baby units as needed, with Mother-Baby assignments limited to newborn care

NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
• At least 1 year of recent NICU nursing experience; 2 years of Level III or higher NICU experience preferred
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
• Stable Program certification preferred
• Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (NIC-RN) certification preferred
• Strong neonatal assessment, critical-thinking, and patient-prioritization skills
• Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable approach to neonatal patient care
• Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, providers, respiratory therapists, and support staff

NICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex newborns in a Level III NICU
• Perform comprehensive neonatal assessments, monitor clinical status, and promptly recognize changes in patient condition
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized neonatal care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely while following neonatal dosage and patient safety protocols
• Support respiratory, developmental, nutritional, and family-centered care plans
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate care and promote positive patient outcomes
• Educate and support parents and caregivers regarding newborn care and treatment plans
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Cerner
• Maintain a safe, organized clinical environment and follow unit policies and professional nursing standards
• Adapt to floating assignments when needed while maintaining high-quality newborn and pediatric care
