Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,500-$2,630
• Contract Duration: 6 weeks
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• Schedule: 8-hour day shifts, approximately 40 hours per week
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Call: Some nighttime and weekend call coverage; must be able to report within 30 minutes when called in
• Healthcare Setting: On-site Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Pre-Op unit with 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios
• Travel Requirement: Candidates must reside at least 60 miles from the assignment location to be considered for travel status
• Start Flexibility: This is a rapid-response need; candidates must be able to start within 7-10 days of offer acceptance

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in New Mexico
• At least 2 years of recent Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing experience
• Preoperative nursing experience strongly preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required at submission
• Ability to provide acute care nursing to primarily adult patients, with occasional ENT cases
• Willingness to participate in nighttime and weekend call coverage
• Compliance with applicable New Mexico fingerprinting and background-check requirements
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems; experience with Medhost or CQI is helpful

PACU and Pre-Op Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit and Pre-Op areas
• Monitor patients throughout recovery from anesthesia and promptly identify changes in condition
• Complete preoperative assessments, patient preparation, and postoperative evaluations
• Care for patients undergoing procedures such as appendectomy, gallbladder surgery, and occasional ENT cases
• Maintain close patient monitoring while supporting individualized 1:1 or 1:2 care ratios
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, surgical staff, and other members of the perioperative team
• Respond to call-back needs within the required 30-minute timeframe
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and discharge readiness accurately
• Follow all unit, clinical, safety, and infection-control standards
