Travel Nursing Job Details

PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in New Mexico
• At least 2 years of recent Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience
• Experience in both PACU and pre-operative nursing preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Strong patient assessment, airway management, and post-anesthesia recovery skills
• Ability to provide on-call coverage and arrive within the required response time
• Professional clinical judgment, teamwork, and clear communication
• Willingness to work on-site and follow professional clinical attire and safety standards

PACU and Pre-Operative Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide pre-operative and post-anesthesia nursing care for surgical patients
• Monitor patients during recovery, including airway, respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and pain assessments
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments according to established orders and protocols
• Prepare patients for procedures and support safe transitions between care areas
• Care for patients undergoing procedures such as appendectomy, gallbladder surgery, and ENT cases
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and provide thorough handoff communication
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, and the broader perioperative care team
• Participate in required night and weekend call coverage
