Emergency Department Travel RN Job Details

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Emergency Department Setting: 10-bed freestanding Emergency Department with approximately a 1:5 patient ratio
• Electronic Medical Record: Meditech
• Floating: May float to the main Emergency Department and affiliated freestanding Emergency Departments
• Attire: Royal blue scrubs

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Texas
• At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department or ER nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC certifications
• Proficiency with Meditech or a comparable electronic medical record system
• Strong emergency nursing triage skills and the ability to prioritize care efficiently in a high-acuity environment
• Comfort caring for emergency patients across the lifespan
• Ability to work effectively in a team nursing environment
• Strong communication skills when working with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team
• Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency preferred
• Level I or Level II trauma experience preferred

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, triage, and ongoing monitoring for emergency patients of all ages
• Prioritize patient care based on acuity, clinical presentation, and changing healthcare needs
• Administer medications, treatments, and emergency interventions according to established protocols
• Assist with obstetric deliveries in the Emergency Department when needed
• Support rapid sequence intubation and preparation for mechanical ventilation
• Assist with or perform procedures including splinting, moderate sedation, chest tube insertion, central line placement, arterial blood gas collection, lumbar puncture support, and nebulizer treatments
• Collaborate closely with physicians, radiology personnel, nurses, and other members of the emergency care team
• Provide clear patient and family education while maintaining accurate Meditech documentation
• Promote patient safety, compassionate care, and strong team dynamics throughout every shift
