Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Contract – McAllen, TX

Join our healthcare team as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) on a 13-week travel nursing contract in McAllen, Texas. This opportunity is based in a fast-paced freestanding emergency department where you will provide compassionate, decisive care alongside a collaborative emergency care team serving patients throughout McAllen and the surrounding Rio Grande Valley. Travel RN Job Details

• Location: McAllen, Texas
• Specialty: Emergency Department / Freestanding Emergency Department
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, through January 18, 2027
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4
• Clinical Environment: 11-bed freestanding emergency department using Meditech EMR
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Texas
• At least 2 years of Emergency Department or Freestanding Emergency Department nursing experience
• Demonstrated proficiency with difficult IV access, large-bore IV placement, blood cultures, triage, and patient monitoring
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight in a fast-paced emergency care setting
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NIHSS, and CPI certifications
• Strong communication skills, flexibility, and a collaborative team approach

Emergency Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely, and compassionate nursing care to emergency patients across a wide range of acuity levels
• Perform focused assessments, triage, ongoing monitoring, and timely escalation of changes in patient condition
• Initiate and maintain difficult-access and large-bore IVs, obtain blood cultures, and support point-of-care laboratory testing
• Respond effectively to emergency situations, including code blue, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and other time-sensitive conditions
• Collaborate with providers and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate treatment and patient flow
• Follow established emergency protocols, clinical guidelines, and patient safety standards
• Float to other freestanding emergency or emergency department areas as needed
• Document patient care accurately in the Meditech electronic medical record
