Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Morgantown, WV — a vibrant college-town community known for its Appalachian scenery, outdoor recreation, and welcoming atmosphere
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,070–$2,180
• Healthcare Setting: Acute-care cardiac stepdown and epilepsy monitoring unit
• Nursing Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
• Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend or two weekend shifts per schedule; holiday rotation required
• Floating: May float to other stepdown units as needed
• Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
• Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in West Virginia
• At least 1 year of recent acute-care stepdown, cardiac stepdown, or neuro nursing experience
• Strong neurological assessment skills and experience caring for stroke patients
• NIHSS certification, with NIHSS in hand at the time of submission
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• Recent EPIC electronic charting experience required
• Ability to care for higher-acuity patients, including those with seizures, strokes, post-craniotomy conditions, and other complex neurological diagnoses
• Flexibility to work night shifts, weekends, holidays, and occasional floating assignments
• COVID-19 vaccination or an approved medical or religious exemption, as applicable

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to acute-care stepdown and epilepsy monitoring patients
• Perform focused and ongoing neurological assessments and promptly identify changes in patient condition
• Care for patients with strokes, seizures, post-craniotomy needs, and other higher-acuity neuroscience diagnoses
• Monitor patients receiving physician-directed medication infusions and stepdown-level therapies
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, nursing assistants, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in EPIC
• Maintain patient safety, participate in care planning, and provide education to patients and families
• Support unit operations by participating in weekend and holiday coverage and floating when required
