Travel RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
• Location: New Haven, Connecticut
• Healthcare Setting: Level I Trauma Center
• Unit: 19-bed Neuroscience ICU (Neuro ICU)
• Start Date: October 30, 2026
• End Date: January 29, 2027
• Schedule: Four 12-hour night shifts per week
• Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:2
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: ICU and PCU assignments within scope of practice
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Call: Not required

Neuroscience ICU Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut or eligibility to obtain one
• At least 2 years of recent Neuro ICU experience; 3 years is preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Recent neurocritical care experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Experience caring for patients with stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, traumatic brain injury, neurotrauma, craniotomy, and craniectomy
• Strong clinical knowledge of ventilator management, arterial and central line care, EVD and lumbar drain management, ICP monitoring, CVVHD/CRRT, vasoactive medication titration, dysrhythmia management, and acute stroke care
• Ability to complete required pre-start and annual learning modules

Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for critically ill adult and geriatric neuroscience patients
• Monitor and manage patients with external ventricular drains, lumbar drains, intracranial pressure monitoring, arterial lines, and central lines
• Care for mechanically ventilated patients and manage respiratory support, including BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula
• Administer and titrate vasoactive medications, cardiac drips, sedation, insulin, and other critical-care therapies according to protocol
• Recognize and respond to changes in neurological status, intracranial pressure, respiratory function, and hemodynamic stability
• Support care for patients requiring post-craniotomy, post-neurosurgical, spinal cord injury, and multisystem organ failure management
• Complete accurate assessments, medication administration, clinical documentation, intake and output monitoring, and interpretation of arterial blood gases and cardiac rhythms
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Float within the ICU and PCU scope of practice as needed to support patient care operations
