Neuro ICU Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
• Nursing Specialty: Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU)

• Start Date: November 6, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending February 5, 2027
• Nursing Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:2
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or as needed during the contract
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Floating: ICU and PCU within scope of practice
• Orientation: 24 hours

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Connecticut; pending Connecticut licensure may be considered
• At least 2 years of recent Neuro ICU or comparable critical care nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Experience caring for patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, neuro trauma, acute stroke, neuro-specific diseases, and post-craniotomy or post-craniectomy needs
• Strong experience with ventilator management, arterial and central line care, EVDs, lumbar drains, ICP monitoring, CVVH/CRRT, vasoactive drips, continuous sedation, and dysrhythmia management
• Ability to complete required pre-start and annual learning modules
• Commitment to required influenza vaccination

Neuro ICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in a 19-bed Neuro ICU
• Monitor and manage patients with complex neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, and multisystem conditions
• Perform neurological assessments and recognize changes in patient status requiring immediate intervention
• Manage EVDs, lumbar drains, ICP monitoring, arterial lines, central lines, ventilators, and CVVH equipment
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive infusions, continuous sedation, neuromuscular blockade, and other critical care therapies according to protocol
• Provide care for patients requiring intubation, respiratory support, hypothermia protocols, blood product administration, and emergency medications
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, and rapid response teams
• Float to ICU or PCU assignments within demonstrated competency and unit needs
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in Epic
• Promote safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care in a fast-paced trauma and neuroscience environment
