Travel Nursing Job Details

• Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week on a 3x12 schedule
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; approximately 2–4 weekend shifts during the contract
• Holiday Requirement: Holidays as scheduled
• Floating: Within Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby/Postpartum areas as needed
• On-Call: Not required
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Unit Highlights: Four-bed LDR, one operating room, two triage/antepartum rooms, a 12-bed Mother-Baby unit, and a Level I well-baby nursery

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

• Active Maryland Registered Nurse license or compact RN license required at the time of submission
• At least 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience required; 2 years preferred
• Strong experience and clinical proficiency in Labor & Delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
• BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association
• NCC C-EFM certification required in hand at the time of submission
• NRP or AAP certification
• STABLE certification
• CPI certification
• NIH certification
• Comfort caring for neonates, adolescents, and adults
• Ability to work throughout the L&D and Mother-Baby/Postpartum departments without restrictions
• Ability to support a patient ratio of approximately 1:2

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout triage, antepartum, labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring, NSTs, and related assessments
• Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and obstetric emergencies
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, forceps or vacuum-assisted deliveries, and recovery of cesarean patients
• Circulate for cesarean sections and support newborn stabilization and transition to post-delivery care
• Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, prostaglandins, terbutaline, epidural anesthesia, and IV therapies
• Manage IV access, infusion pumps, Foley catheters, pain control, hemorrhage protocols, and postpartum complications
• Perform maternal assessments, including fundus, lochia, perineum, reflexes, edema, clonus, and postpartum recovery evaluations
• Provide newborn assessments and care, including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, blood glucose monitoring, cord care, identification and security banding, and metabolic screening
• Support breastfeeding education, newborn care teaching, discharge preparation, and parent education
• Care for patients in the Mother-Baby unit, including postpartum, gynecologic, and women’s surgical patients as assigned
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other members of the care team
• Document assessments, interventions, patient response, and education accurately in Epic
