Join a Level III NICU travel nursing assignment in Columbus, Ohio, and provide expert neonatal critical care to premature and critically ill infants. This 13-week travel RN opportunity supports neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above, including patients with respiratory distress, glucose management challenges, and complex surgical or cardiac needs. Collaborate with an experienced multidisciplinary healthcare team while caring for an average daily census of approximately 30 neonates. - Location: Columbus, Ohio 43210
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- Assignment End Date: February 15, 2027
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,160–$2,270
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Patient Population: Neonates, including infants less than 24–28 weeks gestation
- Healthcare Setting: Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Charting System: Epic
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 2–3 patients per nurse
- Floating: May be required to float to other units within the health system as needed
NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid multistate compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, including NICU experience
- Level III or Level IV NICU experience strongly preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Documented experience with Epic charting, neonatal critical care, and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Two professional references, including at least one manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
- Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
- Ability to complete required state fingerprinting and credentialing promptly after accepting the assignment
NICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to premature and critically ill neonates
- Manage neonatal respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, glucose, and infectious disease needs
- Monitor and manage ventilator settings, including AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP
- Administer and monitor IV vasopressors, surfactants, steroids, and other neonatal medications using the Pyxis system
- Provide arterial line management, central line care, UAC and UVC management, and other specialized neonatal procedures
- Support feeding plans, including bottle, breast, gavage, oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tube feedings
- Provide care for neonates requiring surgical or cardiac interventions and coordinate transfers when indicated
- Recognize and manage cardiovascular dysrhythmias and implement neonatal abstinence syndrome interventions
- Apply infection-control precautions and maintain safe IV therapy practices
- Document accurately in Epic and communicate patient updates using the SBAR framework
- Collaborate with advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, interpretation services, and other members of the care team
