Psychiatric Travel Nurse Job Details

- Patient Population: Patients age 5 and older experiencing psychiatric illness, behavioral health crisis, or detoxification needs
Psychiatric Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of previous mental health or psychiatric nursing experience
- Valid Maine Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Associate degree in Nursing or equivalent 2-year nursing education
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training prior to the start date
- Clean, eligible professional nursing licensure record
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to manage stress appropriately and make sound clinical decisions under pressure
- Excellent teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Flexibility to support patient care needs across a 24/7, seven-day-per-week operation
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the assignment location
Psychiatric RN Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients in an emergency psychiatric and crisis behavioral health environment
- Complete comprehensive psychiatric and medical assessments and use the nursing process to guide individualized care
- Develop and periodically update individualized, interdisciplinary plans of care
- Monitor patient progress, evaluate outcomes, and revise nursing interventions as clinically indicated
- Care for patients experiencing depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, psychotic disorders, substance-related concerns, detoxification needs, and other behavioral health conditions
- Recognize and respond to patients who may also require medical evaluation or treatment
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Collaborate with behavioral health professionals and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Identify and coordinate appropriate resources to support patient stabilization, treatment, discharge planning, and transition of care
- Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes accurately and promptly
