Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Springfield, Illinois
• Healthcare Setting: Emergency Department; acute care, Level I trauma environment
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,950–$2,060
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 18, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, generally 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Volume: Approximately 175 patients daily in a 56-bed emergency department
• Electronic Medical Record: Cerner; recent experience required
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license, or documented license application in process with an expected timeline
• Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in a general emergency department serving both adult and pediatric patients
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
• Recent Cerner charting experience
• Experience in a high-acuity or Level I trauma emergency department preferred
• Strong cardiac monitoring skills, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management and obtaining 12-lead EKGs
• Proficiency with IV starts, phlebotomy, blood product administration, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
• Ability to manage patients experiencing stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, sepsis, multisystem organ dysfunction, respiratory emergencies, psychiatric crises, overdose, and acute trauma
• Demonstrated pediatric emergency care experience, including assessment and treatment of respiratory infections, asthma, seizures, head injuries, abdominal pain, poison ingestion, and suspected abuse

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan in a fast-paced, high-volume department
• Perform triage, focused assessments, ongoing reassessments, and timely escalation of changes in patient condition
• Recognize and respond to cardiac, neurological, respiratory, vascular, orthopedic, infectious, psychiatric, and trauma-related emergencies
• Interpret cardiac rhythms, obtain 12-lead EKGs, administer emergency medications, and support patients requiring vasopressors or continuous sedation
• Initiate and maintain IV access, perform phlebotomy, administer blood products, and manage rapid fluid resuscitation
• Assist with or perform emergency procedures, including intubation support, chest tube management, procedural sedation, splint application, urinary catheterization, and gastric tube placement
• Provide care for pediatric and adult patients requiring respiratory support, trauma stabilization, stroke evaluation, cardiac intervention, and psychiatric safety measures
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, interpretation services, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
• Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner while following isolation precautions, emergency protocols, and professional nursing standards
