Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,750–$1,840
• Location: Columbia, South Carolina 29203
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 25, 2027
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Unit: 41-bed progressive care, trauma, and telemetry unit
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
• Typical Assignment Ratio: Approximately 1:4, flexing up to 1:5 as needed
• Charting System: Epic electronic medical record

PCU RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in South Carolina
• At least 1 year of recent PCU, progressive care, stepdown, telemetry, or similar acute-care nursing experience
• At least 2 years of nursing experience for first-time travel nurses
• At least 1 year of Epic electronic medical record experience
• American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Demonstrated telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation experience
• Proficiency with medication administration and completion of a required medication assessment
• Experience caring for trauma, surgical, or complex medical-surgical patients preferred
• Ability to complete required pre-assignment testing and learning modules before the start of the assignment
• Flexibility to float to qualified units or locations when requested and perform only tasks supported by documented competencies
• Annual flu vaccination required

Progressive Care RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from traumatic injuries and surgical procedures.
• Care for patients with injuries related to motor vehicle crashes, falls, assaults, penetrating trauma, and other surgical trauma conditions.
• Monitor patients using bedside telemetry and recognize, interpret, and respond to changes in cardiac rhythms.
• Manage progressive care needs, including central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, wound care, and wound vacs.
• Administer blood products, manage heparin protocols and PCA therapy, and provide peripheral and IV line care.
• Support patients requiring oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP or CPAP management.
• Collaborate with physicians, rapid response teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rehabilitation, radiology, social services, and other interdisciplinary partners.
• Recognize patient deterioration and activate appropriate rapid response or emergency interventions.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in Epic.
• Provide patient and family education while promoting safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
