Join a high-performing perioperative team as an Operating Room Registered Nurse in Miami, Florida. This travel contract opportunity is ideal for an adaptable OR nurse who enjoys working across multiple specialties in a fast-paced acute-care environment. You will support advanced surgical services, including robotics, orthopedics, neurosurgery, trauma, vascular, ENT, ophthalmology, and pediatric and adult cases, while collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, surgical technologists, and OR leadership. • Call Requirements: Approximately two weekend call shifts of 8 hours, four evening call shifts of 4 hours, and one overnight call shift of 8 hours per month
• Unit: 20-room operating department with approximately 110 staff members
• Patient Assignment: 1:1 staffing model

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Florida
• At least 2 years of current acute-care hospital operating room experience; surgical-center-only experience does not meet the requirement
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Recent Meditech experience is required
• Strong experience with orthopedic, neurologic, and robotic procedures
• Ability and willingness to float among different operating room specialties
• Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and thrive in a high-volume surgical environment
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms, verify equipment and supplies, and support safe surgical start times
• Serve as a circulator and collaborate with the surgical team throughout operative procedures
• Assist with robotics and advanced surgical technologies, including Da Vinci systems, Mako, Stealth, GI towers, endoscopy, laparoscopic equipment, and hybrid vascular procedures
• Support a broad range of cases, including orthopedic, neurologic, trauma, burn, ENT, ophthalmology, gynecologic, pediatric, adult, and vascular procedures
• Complete accurate implant, specimen, and surgical documentation in Meditech
• Inspect, maintain, decontaminate, and troubleshoot surgical equipment while maintaining inventory records
• Assist with pre- and post-surgical patient care, including transport, dressings, and related clinical tasks
• Help maintain an efficient approximately 30-minute room turnover while prioritizing patient safety and infection prevention
• Participate in scheduled weekend, evening, and overnight call coverage
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, surgical technologists, and support staff
