Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Oklahoma or a valid multistate RN license
• At least 2 years of recent Emergency Room or Emergency Department nursing experience
• Graduate of an approved professional nursing program
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
• Current ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications
• Epic electronic health record documentation experience
• Working knowledge of disease-state management, clinical pathways, and the biopsychosocial model
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and prioritization skills
• Ability to work effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals

Emergency Department Nursing Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using the nursing process
• Provide timely, compassionate care to emergency patients with varying levels of acuity
• Organize and prioritize nursing interventions based on patient needs and changing clinical conditions
• Perform nursing skills appropriate to the emergency care patient population
• Monitor patient status and demonstrate sound professional judgment in complex or rapidly changing situations
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes accurately in Epic
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, ancillary staff, patients, and families
• Provide patient and family education while considering age, culture, and psychosocial factors
• Coordinate referrals, discharge teaching, and follow-up resources as appropriate
• Support quality improvement, education, mandatory training, and unit-based initiatives
• Complete required variance reports and maintain accurate clinical records
